A00 Grob Attack (also B01 Scandanavian Defense)

1.g4 d5 2.e4?!N

Lev says he invented this in 1999 and points out that 1.e4 d5 2.g4 reaches the same position. [2.Bg2 Bxg4 3.c4 ; or 2.h3 is the norm.]

[Black can be prosaic and decline with 2...c6 (which would make a weird Caro-Kann) but the Indian GM, best-known for his 1982 Lloyds Bank victory over Viktor Kortschnoi, takes the Missouri approach.]

3.Nc3 h5 4.g5 Bf5
[Most engines claim 4...Bg4! /\5.Be2 Bf5 puts White's gambit in question.]

[>=5.Bg2 ]

[5...Nc6=/+ ]

6.Qb5+ Nc6
[6...Bd7 7.Qxb7 Bc6 8.Bb5!+- (Zilbermintz) is no better.]
