1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 g6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nc6 5. Nc3 Bg7 6. Be3 d6?!

Black should play more flexibly with 6... Nf6 after which White cannot pursue a straightforward Yugoslav attack with 7. f3 (7. Qd2 Ng4) 7... O-O 8. Qd2 due to 8... d5! in one move, with easy equality.

Why play the Accelerated Dragon if you are just going to transpose to the Dragon? Seems to me that requires more study (including of the Maroczy bind) than playing either the straight Dragon or the Accelerated alone.

 

8. Qd2 O-O 9. O-O-O Nxd4 10. Bxd4 Be6 11. Kb1 Re8

If Black has nothing better than this apparent tempo-waster, then White has a clear edge. At least it avoids the trap 11... Qa5? 12. Nd5 Qxd2 (12... Qd8 13. Nxf6+ exf6 14. Bc3 ) 13. Nxe7+

23. Nf6 Qg7 24. Nxg4+ hxg4 25. Re5 Rf8 26. h5!

Now White's attack become devastating.

 

26... Rf5? 27. hxg6+ Kxg6 28. Rxe6+ Rf6 29. Rxf6+

29. f5+ Kf7 30. Rxf6+ Qxf6 31. Rh7+ wins the queen and forces mate as well.

 

29... Qxf6 30. Rh6+! winning the Queen. 1-0
