Better 10... Nxd4 11. Bxd4 e5 (11... b5!?) 12. Bf2 exf4 13. Bd4 Be6 and Black has good results from this position.

11. Qf3 Rad8

Better 11... Nxd4 12. Bxd4 Bc6 13. Rae1 Rad8 (a recurrent idea in this line is 13... d5!? 14. exd5 Bc5!?) 14. Kh1 d5 15. e5 Ne4! 16. f5!? (16. Nxe4 dxe4 17. Qe3 b6! and Bc5 =) 16... exf5 (16... Nd2? 17. Qf4! and the dark squares are Black's downfall, therefore a better try is 16... Bc5!?) 17. Qxf5 Nxc3 18. Bxc3 Bb4! (and Black eliminates the dark-square Bishop) 19. Re3 Bxc3 20. Rxc3 Rde8 21. Rh3 h6 22. c3 Qc7 23. Re3 Re6 24. Bc2 g6 25. Rg3 (25. Qf4! gives Black more trouble) 25... Rfe8 26. Qf4 Kg7 27. Rh3 h5 28. Rhf3 R8e7 29. Re3?! Rxe5 30. Qf6+ Kg8 31. Rg3 Re1 32. 12. f5 Ne8?

This move proves surprisingly fatal, but Black may be in some trouble in any event. Two better tries suggest themselves:

a) 12... d5!? 13. exd5 exd5? (necessary was 13... Nxd4! 14. Bxd4 Bc5! which likely holds) 14. Nxd5 Nxd5 15. Bxd5 Nxd4 16. Bxd4 Bxf5? 17. Qg3! Bg6 18. Qe5! Bf6 19. Bxf7+! Rxf7 20. Qxa5 Bxd4+ 21. Kh1 Rfd7 22. c3 Bb6 23. Qa4 Sigurjonsson-Ivanovic 1982

b) 12... exf5 13. exf5 (13. Nxf5 Bxf5 14. Qxf5 Qxf5 15. Rxf5 Ng4 16. Nd5 Nxe3 17. Nxe3) 13... Ne5 14. Qg3 yields White an edge but was still playable for Black.

13. fxe6! fxe6

Black assumes that the temporary threat on the White Queen will save the pawn at e6, but this proves false. No better is 13... Nxd4 14. exf7+

14. Qxf8+! Bxf8 15. Nxe6 Nf6 16. Nxd8+ Kh8 17. Nf7+ Kg8 18. Nxd6+

18. Nd5!?

18... Kh8 19. Nf7+ Kg8 20. Ne5+ Kh8 21. Nf7+ Kg8 22. Ne5+ Kh8 23. Rxf6! gxf6 24. Nxd7 Be7 25. Nd5 Qd8 26. Nxe7 Qxe7 27. Nc5 b6 28. Ne6 Na5 29. Rd1 Nb7 30. Bh6 Nd6 31. Bf8
