1. e4 e5 2. Bc4 Nf6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nf3 Nc6 5. e5 d5 6. Bb5 Ne4 7. Nxd4 Bd7 8. Bxc6 bxc6 9. O-O Nc5 10. f4 Ne6 11. c3?!

Not bad, but not best. White should reserve the option of c4 in one go.

a) 11. f5 Nxd4 12. Qxd4

b) 11. Nxe6! fxe6 12. Qh5+ looks best, with something like the game continuation.

c) 11. Be3 c5?! 12. Nxe6 fxe6 13. f5!

11... c5?

11... Nxd4 12. cxd4 (12. Qxd4 Qb8!) 12... Bf5 13. g4!

12. Nxe6 fxe6 13. Nd2 Be7

13... Qh4!? 14. c4

14. Qh5+! g6 15. Qh6 Bf8 16. Qh3 Qe7

16... Be7 17. c4 O-O 18. b3!

17. c4 dxc4? 18. Ne4!

The dark squares are the target!

18... Bg7 19. Be3! Rb8 20. Bxc5 Qd8?!

20... Qf7 is necessary -- now the pin on the d-file is deadly.

21. Rad1! Rxb2 22. f5!!

I like this move best, but White probably has his choice of wins at this point by piling up on the pinned Bishop at d7:

a) 22. Rd4 Rxa2 23. Rfd1

b) 22. Ba3 Rb5 23. Nc5

22... Qa8

22... exf5 23. e6! Bc6 24. Rxd8+ Kxd8 25. Nf2

23. fxe6! Bc6

23... Qxe4 24. exd7+ Kd8 25. e6

24. Nf6+!

24. Qh4 also forces checkmate.

24... Bxf6 25. exf6

and mate is actually unavoidable, but the game ended nicely as follows:

25... Rxg2+ 26. Qxg2! Bxg2 27. f7#

Black checkmated
