1. e4 e5 2. Bc4 Nf6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nf3 Nc6 5. e5 d5 6. Bb5 Ne4 7. Nxd4 Bd7 8. Bxc6 bxc6 9.
Not bad, but not best. White should reserve the option of c4 in one go.
b) 11. Nxe6! fxe6 12. Qh5+ looks best, with something like the game continuation.
11... c5?
11... Nxd4 12. cxd4 (12. Qxd4 Qb8!
)
12... Bf5 13. g4!![]()
14. Qh5+! g6 15. Qh6 Bf8 16. Qh3 Qe7
The dark squares are the target!
18... Bg7 19. Be3! Rb8 20. Bxc5 Qd8?!
20... Qf7 is necessary -- now the pin on the d-file is deadly.
I like this move best, but White probably has his choice of wins at this point by piling up on the pinned Bishop at d7:
22... Qa8
22... exf5 23. e6! Bc6 24. Rxd8+ Kxd8 25. Nf2![]()
|
23... Qxe4 24. exd7+ Kd8 25. e6![]()
24. Nf6+!
24. Qh4 also forces checkmate.
and mate is actually unavoidable, but the game ended nicely as follows:
25... Rxg2+ 26. Qxg2! Bxg2 27. f7#
Black checkmated
