Games from the NJ Open 2008

The following were some of the better games from the New Jersey Open Championship (August 30- September 1, 2008). The two "best games" from the event were chosen by NM Fred Wilson, whose chess concession is always my favorite part of the NJ Open.

Games by the Champion

Mackenzie Molner - Dan Yeager [B96]

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Bg5 e6 7. f4 Nbd7?!

This practically encourages White's sac in the game, as does the next.

8. Bc4! b5

9. Bxe6!

Molner told Fred Wilson that he thought Black was ok here with best play, but I don't see how that is possible.

and Black resigned, as his position is hopeless.
